Edith Piaf is an icon, France’s greatest popular singer. However, few people know about her best friend and half-sister Simone, who grew up in Paris alongside Piaf. The enduring friendship of these two women is an incredible (and true!) story, spanning over 25 years. Featuring Piaf’s most popular songs, including La Vie en Rose, Padam Padam and Hymne à l’Amour. “Four stars! The music is immortal and delivered with style and skill by a master performer…Superlative singing….Gall’s narrative and Piaf’s songs melded seamlessly together, conjuring up the streets of Paris in my imagination…An amazing voice and an engaging personality.”

I have to admit… I didn’t think I had any interest in Edith Piaf, and I certainly don’t speak French… yet I found myself in the audience for Melanie’s show this evening. And I was BLOWN AWAY by what a wonderful show it is! The show is well written, well directed, Ms. Gall is adorable and gracious… and her voice? This woman is an incredible vocalist! I was moved to tears more than once, and not just in the sad part. The first time it was because of how simply, amazingly, beautiful and pure her voice is. What a gift! I can’t recommend this show enough. It is wonderful. DO NOT MISS IT!
B E A U T I F U L voice! Absolutely amazing! What a joy to experience! Most of the songs were in French – which I don’t understand. Didn’t matter! Still felt totally bathed in beauty
A beautiful back story to go with a gorgeous voice and strong performance!
Don’t miss it!!!
Performances like this are what keep me coming back to the Rogue. See this one with someone you love, even with someone you only like a little. You will leave happier than you were when you entered.
Ditto on the previous reviews. Don’t know French, don’t like Edith Piaf particularily–loved this show! Singing so moving, transported me away from the night club atmosphere of the venue–as I imagine Edith Piaf did her audiences. I loved the story of the two sister’s relationship. And the show evoked another time and place beautifully.
This show is the hit of the Rogue for me this year. It is professional, touching and heartwarming. The singing is gorgeous and the sympathetic portrayal of Edith Piaf and her sister spot on. It is a marvelous piece of theater and no one should miss it.
I loved this show. The acting is first-rate, and the singing – by opera-trained soprano Melanie Gall – was absolutely stunning. I could not recommend this show more – professionally acted and directed, it well-deserved the standing ovation it received. I will be going back on Saturday to see it again, and with almost a full house at the performance I attended would recommend arriving early – sure to be a sell-out this Sat.

I don’t give a hoot about Edith Piaf.
I give a hootenanny about Melanie Gill. She’s gorgeous in voice, in ability, in depth and in person.
One of the best ever. A real testament to how wonderful The Rogue is and has become over these years – a full house with a top-level performer with a wonderful combination of script, acting, and vocal performance.
Lovely voice!
Very touching portrayal of Simone and her life with Edith, highlighted by Melanie’s extra-ordinary talent for sharing and her beautiful voice. Incredible performance.
